Embracing the Flow of Aliveness - a fundamental practice for transformational connections
In my work, I support clients in stepping into the richness of the present moment. A core practice we do is being fully present in the immediacy of the moment. It’s a practice where aliveness leads, where truth manifests through our being, and where our senses become attuned to the rhythm of our words.
Bringing immediacy and presence to any conversation is like opening a door to deeper connection. It means expressing how you feel in real-time, not merely articulating preconceived thoughts, but allowing the pulsating energy of the present moment to guide your expression. When we do this, flow arises naturally—without forcing anything.
Recently, during an event, three women stood before the Circle, sharing their challenges and victories in meeting one another. As one woman spoke, her voice trembled, her jaw quivered, and her eyes lit up with intensity. She was fully immersed in the immediacy of her inner experience, allowing the raw energy of that moment to shape her expression. She revealed her immediate experience to us, inviting and empowering further unfoldment in the group.
The invitation of this practice is clear: rather than speaking about something, we allow expressions to flow from the source of aliveness within.
In the act of speaking about what is happening and what we are noticing, a subtle paradox emerges—by the time we voice our observations or feelings, a minuscule gap appears between the raw experience and its expression.
There is immense power and beauty in authentic, immediate expression. However, it is not always easy. It’s a vulnerable practice because it challenges the ego’s habitual tendency to control. Being in immediacy requires letting go of the illusion of control and the need to manipulate outcomes. We step into the unknown, uncertain of how our expressions will unfold or what impact they will have.
The embodied aliveness allows an unfiltered truth to shine through. Often, this touches the hearts of others, creating a profound sense of connection and empathy.
By embracing vulnerability and letting go of control, we open ourselves to the richness of the present moment. Ultimately, what is required is a deep trust in the flow of life—a trust that allows us to surrender to the unfolding of each moment.
Being in immediacy, guided by our aliveness, has the potential to transform our connections.
And, ultimately, to transform us too.
